Why an Author does Internet Marketing

For experienced authors, this will come as no shock, but for those writing their first book or getting ready to publish their first book, there is a harsh reality to learn…

You and you alone are responsible for the marketing of your book.

If you are one of the few who have been picked up by a publisher they will tell you the same thing.

Never fear, there are lots of good resources to help you through the marketing mess.  Here are a couple good ones:

Dan Poynter’s Self-Publishing Manual
(volume one)

(volume two)

Both of these books take you by the hand and guide you by the hand from the start of your book to the end and beyond.  I use volume two a bit more because it covers some social networking techniques.  Both are very valuable guides.

Also take a look at Dan Poynter’s website  http://www.parapublishing.com

Do yourself a favor and sign up for his free info kits and newsletter.  It focuses primarily on non fiction, but there is good info for the fiction writer as well.
